As part of our battery exchange process, the SIACs sent back to SPORTident are carefully opened and then receive a brand new SIAC body. The used batteries are, of course, sent to a standardrecycling process for the product. But what happens to all the old plastic bodies?

This question has also been on our minds for a long time. Simply disposing of them was not an option for us. That would be a waste of resources and an unnecessary burden on the environment. Therefore, we decided to recycle them and produce new SIAC bodies from them. We decided to use the two standard colours green and white.

The old, waterproof labels were removed without leaving any residue and the bodies were cleaned. Afterwards, the bodies were mechanically shredded and processed into granules. Both, our product developers and our producer confirmed that this granular material had exactly the same material properties as the newly purchased, non-recycled granulate - perfect. This meant that no further additives were needed and that the granulated material could be reprocessed one-to-one.

The colour combination we did ended up in a beautiful pastel-mind-green. A colour characterised by light colour nuances that makes each SIAC unique. The primary colour "green" underlines the message "I am a recycled SIAC and valuable to the environment". We are proud to have taken this step for the first time to make our products even more sustainable. This recycled SIAC is the first of its kind.
